Most of us blame the mechanical life of today and say that we don't have enough time to garden. We recall old memories, where we were climbing up the tall tree in the backyard of our homes to taste the sweet fruits. The cool breeze and the warm touch of the tree could make us feel so pleasant.

Let's stop blaming the mechanical life and spare some time to grow our own fruit, we can do it.

Organic Fruit

To start with we need to check the availability of the space and the position where we need to grow the fruit. Then we should have a clear knowledge regarding the season. If we have large plot then we can grow many fruits. And if the room is premium then we can grow fruits in pots too. We know in the garden we can grow small fruits and it depends on us to choose the fruit, it's sure that we love to plant our favorite fruit.

Some fruits grow in the shady spot, where as the majority of the fruits needs good sunlight. Then the minimum temperatures are also an important consideration in growing fruits. It is known that the sunny, especially south- or west-facing aspects are ideal for growing any fruit, especially sun lovers such as grapes, figs, peaches, nectarines and apricots.

We need to be cautious about the frost weather, as we know that the frost weather destroys the plant. Frost will damage the soft shoots of the various plants hence, for the majority of gardeners the main method of minimizing frost damage is to protect vulnerable plants during sub-zero temperatures. OK, now what will we do if we don't have a frost-free area? Nothing to worry, we can protect by using the polythene horticultural fleece or glass cloches for protecting the blossom. We need to remember whichever method of frost protection we choose, only use it only when frosts are forecast and the plant is in blossom.

The fruit trees grows on their own roots, if needed we can also choose a rootstock if necessary. From the study it is know that a rootstock will help in the fruiting earlier in its life than if it was grown on its own roots. If planning to grow apples, then there are many rootstocks available in the markets, they are M27, M9 and M26, and M106.

Then the pollination too plays a key role. This is usually done by flying insects like honey bees. Most of the fruits produce compatible flowers and pollen and are self fertile. Fruits such us cherries are self fertile, so that insects pollinating their own flowers will lead to successful fruit growth.

We need to protect the tree from pests and disease too. We know most of the disease is caused by the fungus, hence we can spray fungicide Bordeaux mixture, once after picking but before leaf fall and a second time when about half the leaves have fallen.
