The Benefits of Organic Make Up

Natural or organic make up is the term that people use in reference to natural cosmetics. These natural cosmetics are derived from plan produce such as fruits, leaves, herbs as well as roots. These are where the majority of the ingredients come from. Today with more and more people becoming health-centric, cosmetic companies are following suit and are now discontinuing the use of the traditional way of manufacturing cosmetics which makes use of a lot of chemical based ingredients. The cosmetics being produced the natural way also include a wide range of skincare products such as lotions, face masks, toners as well as facial cleansers.

One of the many benefits one can get from using organic make up is that it doesn't irritate even the most sensitive of skins. It won't damage your skin, cause pimples or roughness, wont make your skin uneven in skin tone and it is also non-comedogenic so it will not clog your pores.

Many women begin their day with the application of different cosmetics. However the cosmetics that were used before contained a number of harmful substances. The synthetic dyes, artificial fragrance are just a few of those harmful chemicals that can damage your skin. These type of cosmetics also tend to get in your pores eventually causing irritation, acne, blackheads and other skin allergies. This is especially true for people with sensitive skin. Those people can often end up with ugly scars as well. But you wont experience that with organic make up. Natural make up does not cause any sort of irritation and unlike the old type of cosmetics, natural ones are also very easy to remove. No need for those harsh alcohol based make up removers that add to skin damage.

These natural cosmetic proucts are made out of mineral pigments which give them their lovely color and is also good for the skin. Botanical extracts, waxes and natural oils are also part of the mix. Did you know that natural make up can actually help moisturize as well as smoothen your skin? This is because of the healthy agents in the minerals that revitalize the skin. So instead of getting damaged and rough skin, you get the exact opposite. But if you are new to the whole idea of using organic make up, then slowly make your way into it by adding just a few natural cosmetic products into your everyday beauty routine.

You can start with your lips. There's a whole range of lip products like lip glosses, lip balms and lipsticks that were all made using natural ingredients. They come in a wide variety of colors and provide rich color, smooth texture and at the same time protecting and moisturizing your lips. These natural lip products are usually made with the use of almond extract, aloe vera, jojoba oil and plant waxes in lieu of the harsh dyes and chemicals. The same ingredients can be found in other healthy cosmetics and even in some food products which only goes to show just how safe organic make up is.

Organic Vs Non-Organic

The inspiration to write this entry came from an article that was published in a local newspaper. The article and paper is not important-all that is important is that the article tried to gift facts proving that organic food was not any dissimilar nutritionally than non-organic. The research from the article came from other papers that had already been written, through which researchers found the benefits of organic food to be insignificant for the "general public". Does that mean the benefits of organic food Are valuable for other populations?

All in all, the article was trying to prove that organic food has no nutritional benefits over non-organic food. However, if you are eating organic food solely for increased nutritional benefit, you are missing the whole point of eating Organic food! If you grow an apple organically, and you grow an apple "conventionally" - they will have practically the same vitamin and mineral content, depending on when they were harvested. An apple, after all, is an apple. The entire purpose of eating organic is to reserve healthy practices and sustainable farming methods. The incompatibility is that while the accepted apple is grown, the trees are sprayed with herbicides and pesticides to kill off any bug or bacteria that might hurt the tree or the apple, therefore jeopardizing the harvest. Once the apple starts growing, it is continually sprayed with pesticides so other animals do not eat the fruit. It is then picked before it thoroughly ripens (read: before all of the nutrients and flavor fully develop) and sprayed with more preserving chemicals to deter ripening before the fruit gets to its final destination, which is many times thousands of miles from where it is grown. A valuable estimate of our environmental impact could be lessened if we all bought locally grown food. Finally, to make sure this chemicalized version of an apple looks good sufficient to eat, it is coated with wax to make it shine and to make sure the peel does not get any discoloration or blemishes. The wax holds the pesticides and herbicides even closer to the fruit and allows the full force of those chemicals to go into your body. Washing your produce can help with the estimate of chemicals that you ingest, but can never take off them all.

Organic Fruit

Here is a quick test. Take an apple that you bought at a supermarket and smell it, before you bite into it. Does it smell like an apple? Now buy an apple at a local farmers shop and smell it before your first bite. You will be blown away at the astounding fragrance the apple produces before the peel is even broken. Just dream what your kitchen will smell like when you are cooking dinner with local organic produce!

What was also surprising about this article was the fact that their research came from articles that were written over the last 50 years. Our food manufactures has undergone many changes in the past 50 years, most of which are just beginning to show their true effects with the increases in persisting diseases in our society. The developments for speed and efficiency of food production; pesticides to increase farm output; preservatives that are used to increase shelf life; all of these are taking a toll on the condition of our nation. Our bodies are astounding machines that can process and eliminate many toxins that invade our body, only if we are properly nourished and rested. However, when the body is put under constant "attack" by foreign contaminants, in addition to being malnourished and overworked, it can only maintain wellness for so long. Eventually, the foreign contaminants will overpower the bodies natural defenses and the body will become diseased.

We are only just beginning to see the effects of our damaging farming practices, so conducting research on articles written 50 years ago, is not going to produce useful research. Scientists should be conducting research on the long terms effects of gift day chemicals used in accepted farming methods. That is the facts that should be presented to the general public, and then let the general group settle for themselves whether or not organic food has valuable benefits.

If this facts about non-organic food is not frightening enough, much of our food contribute has verily been tampered with on the molecular level so they become more resistant to bacteria. These foods are known as Gmo or Genetically Modified Organisms, and rarely is this denoted on the label, in fact many of these foods do not even come with a label. For example, strawberries ordinarily do not list the ingredients, so you would not see "made with Gmo Strawberries" on the label. In these cases, from the seed, the food is beginning off as something that is not natural, but rather man-made. We have invented astounding things in our history, but when it comes to replicating nature, we have fallen short, because nature is too complex.

The full force of these choices has yet to be fully investigated. With all of these foreign contaminants in our food contribute on a daily basis, ones that are meant to fight off viruses and bacteria, our own immune systems are becoming inadequate. We are creating a serious situation where the microbial world will continue to evolve and strengthen, but our immune systems will continue to weaken. Our only defense will be antibiotics that man can develop, leaving us with a thoroughly reactive, rather than preventive, line of defense. dream a war against a living organism that can morph and adapt. It is not a pretty picture.

Is it easy to eat all organic food? verily not. In fact it is probably the most difficult convention that you could ever try to change, unless you live on your own farm. That, in and of itself, is part of our problem. Even if person wants to enhance their eating habits by going organic, they may not necessarily have the resources, due to availability and financial restraints. With the popularity of Whole Foods, eating organically has verily become a lot easier and more accessible. However, the cost of organic grown produce versus McDonald's still hinders many from making the leap to an organic diet.

My advice is to find a local organic farmers shop from which you can buy all of your seasonal produce. The price can be slightly higher, but you can rest assured knowing that your money is being put to good use supporting local farming, not to mention, the short tour time of the food will make for a much longer shelf life in your home. You will observation an foreseen, incompatibility in the taste and smell of the local food you are eating, making your meals that much more delicious.

The episode here is that one does not necessarily have to reject the "norm" and purposely go against the grain, but also does not have to accept all things as "fact". Not all things printed and reported in the news needs to be taken without question. If all you take away from this is permission to think and ask what does not sit right with you, then this article will be considered a success. You have already heard to think before you speak, but also think before you act, cook and eat.

Organize Life & Business~ 5 Steps to Get Organized & Energized

“Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up." A. A. Milne

In personal development growth occurs more easily when we create space to grow. In order to experience living beyond limits in business or personal lives we must rid ourselves of the chaos and clutter that keeps us clogged up. To change life and business begin by getting organized.

1- Know Your Top Priority Zones- Focus on 3 to 5. Top priority zones are the most valuable areas of your life. Consider the roles you play throughout the day. What means the most to you long-term? Examples are spirituality, self-care, family, business, career, home, education, hobbies, volunteer work, etc. To make the best time management decisions know your priorities. You will be challenged by a new opportunity. Does it honor your priorities? If not, say 'no' for now.

Under each top priority zone list the top 3-5 priorities. For instance, under self-care you could have exercise, take vitamins, eat 5 fruits/ vegetables, read for 30 minutes, and drink 8 glasses of water daily. The more you can simplify and get focused the better.

2- Schedule Blocks of Time- Blocks of time for your various priority zones give you time and a clear focus on the priorities in each area. Consider how much time you need and how much you can commit to each priority. When is the best time of day to schedule it so that you follow through? Customize your schedule to fit your energy level and personality so your time is used efficiently.

3- Now you can create your "to do" list or "toleration" list- What are you putting up with that needs to be handled. Get it out of your head and into a system such as a list, daytimer, palm pilot, blackberry, computer, etc. Plan to do it, delegate it, or dump it. What can you let go of? Give yourself permission to let go so you can focus on what will make the greatest difference.

4- Systematize- Create systems that save you time and make life easier. If there is an area not working for you chances are it is in need of a simple system. How often are you running to the store and what can you do to make one trip? When you buy something new, get rid of something old so your closets never get packed. How can you spend less time waiting in lines, managing e-mail, and handling paperwork? What marketing system can you put in place so you know exactly what to do each day. Create a home for everything so you know exactly where items go. Instead of items landing where they were left have a designated space for office supplies, a space for hardware, etc. Pick up more ideas at www.StartingNowCoaching.com .

5- Set Yourself Up for Peak Performance- Take regular breaks to rejuvenate. In the book the Power of Full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal, the authors Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz suggest taking 10 minute breaks every 90 minutes. Get plenty of sleep and choose healthy energy sources vs. adrenaline for endurance. By the way...I hope you chose self-care as one of your top priorities.

Take a day off, get help, do what it takes to organize your life and business. Save time doing what you don't like and more time doing what gets you pumped. That's when you will bubble over sharing the special gifts you have to offer and we will all be better off. StartingNow!

Growing Fruit in Greenhouses

Did you know you could successfully grow all kinds of fruit in a greenhouse? Most gardeners know that they can grow strawberries and tomatoes in a greenhouse, but did you know you could also successfully grow melons, grapes, peaches, lemons, nectarines, and citrus fruits too?

There are several varieties of grapes that can be grown in a greenhouse environment including Black Hamburgh and Buckland Sweetwater. They are ideal grapes for growing in cooler conditions. Gardeners need to pay single attentiveness to giving the vines open, free-draining soil and to forestall waterlogged soils. They will need to maintain young plants, as they are first becoming established. Side-shoots that are produced in the summer will need to be pruned in the following winter by cutting them back to their last bud (spur pruning). A good ability fertilizer and adequate water that reaches to all of the roots are significant for good ability grapes.

Peaches and nectarines can be grown successfully in both the cool greenhouse and the heated greenhouse. The Humboldt and the Pine Apple nectarine varieties fit the cold greenhouse. The Peregrine grows great in a greenhouse as well as the Hale's Early range as long as there is someone else range close by for pollination.

Peaches and nectarines grown in a greenhouse will tend to have contract root systems so they will need to be watered oftentimes while their growing season and fed once the tree is established. You will need to change pollen from flower to flower using a small fine brush. You will need to do this by hand pollination everyday while the flowering period. The humidity of the greenhouse should be raised while the flowering season. When the fruits are about the size of walnuts you may need to thin them to about two fruits per foot of branch.

Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges and tangerines can all be grown successfully in the greenhouse environment.

Growing any kind of fruit in the greenhouse is entertaining as conditions must be just right and pests and disease can be problems that need conquering but it can be done. Take heart though as there are several books on greenhouse gardening that cover growing fruits in greenhouses including: Greenhouse Gardening: Step by Step to Growing Success (Crowood Gardening Guide) by Jonathan Edwards (Paperback - Aug 1, 1996), Growing Fruit (Rhs Encyclopedia of Practical Gardening) by Harry Baker (Paperback - Mar 1, 2001) - Illustrated, and Grow fruit in your greenhouse: Grapes, peaches, nectarines, figs and others by George E Whitehead (Unknown Binding - 1970).
